In 2023, Dr. Jenna Maria Constantine, Founder and Owner of KaplaniKid Productions, established the “Mr. Gus” D. Gliarmis Social Justice Memorial Scholarship, in honor and memory of her beloved Greek immigrant Παππού (Grandfather), Konstantinos Demetrios Gliarmis, a “social justice warrior” and Owner of the Star Cafe on Barnes Street in Wilson, North Carolina.
The “Mr. Gus” D. Gliarmis Social Justice Memorial Scholarship held an Essay Contest and accepted applications through March 17th, 2023.
The Essay Contest for the “Mr. Gus” D. Gliarmis Social Justice Memorial Scholarship was open to all Wilson County high school students who qualified, were graduating in 2023, planed to attend a 4-year college or university and have a passion for social justice.
The “Mr. Gus” D. Gliarmis Social Justice Memorial Scholarship 2023 was bestowed upon Christopher J. Bailey, who went on to study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
